Tropical-inspired tablescapes for your destination wedding
Your tablescape is one of the most important elements of your reception décor, and consists of your centrepieces, linens, tableware, glassware and place cards. It’s a beautiful way to incorporate your colour scheme and get creative with your wedding day vision! To help you get inspired, we put together some of our favourite tropical-inspired tablescapes for your dream destination wedding.
Scattered with seashells
You are at the beach, after all! Decorate your table with delicate seashells of all different shapes and sizes. The trend looks especially beautiful when paired with gauzy tablecloths or runners in pastel blues or shades of white. We recommend bringing fake seashells from home or having your wedding consultant source them for you locally – you want to make sure you leave your destination as beautifully preserved as when you arrived!
Rustic rattan accents
Rattan is one of the biggest wedding trends we’re seeing for 2021 and 2022. The rustic material grows naturally as a vine in tropical destinations, so you’ll also have the added bonus of using locally sourced materials in your big day. Use rattan chargers as the base for your tablescape and pair it with neutral or pastel tones to add a rustic and Bohemian-chic vibe to your destination wedding reception.

Pretty in shimmery pink
If you’re having a sunset reception, a shimmery pink tablescape will pair beautifully with the vibrant colours of the sunset. For this tablescape, you can let the linens do the talking by pairing a statement tablecloth or runner with simpler centrepieces and tableware. We love how Krissy and Shayne paired their glitter pink table linens with a lush green centrepiece for their Real Wedding reception.
Vibrant bursts of colour
The brighter, the better. After a crazy year, we could also use some colour in our life, and we’re seeing lots of couples incorporating bolder and more vibrant hues into their wedding day décor. Choose plates, glasses and linens in various tropical-inspired hues and don’t be afraid to play with patterns. Mix and match different elements to get the perfect sunny tablescape.

Palm leaf placemats
Ditch the traditional placemat and replace it with a lush and flattened palm leaf, like Marline and Mina did for their glamorous Real Wedding reception. Pair the palm leaf placemat with classic tableware and a lush centrepiece full of exotic greenery. You can get extra creative and have single leaves as your place cards with elegant calligraphy in gold or silver foil.
