Real Wedding: Krissy & Shayne
Where it all started
High-school sweethearts Kristine and Shayne met when the pair were in the 11th grade. Krissy thought Shayne was the most handsome guy she had ever laid eyes on. He thought she was really cute and wanted to impress her! It worked – after breaking his ankle during a football game, he asked her to be his girlfriend before being taken to the hospital. She said yes!
Shortly after becoming boyfriend and girlfriend, the couple were at Krissy’s cottage visiting with her family. Krissy loved how amazing Shayne was with her little cousins and he loved how close she was with her family. It was on that trip to the cottage that the couple knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.
One Labour Day weekend, five days before their ten-year anniversary, the couple visited their cottage with their family. While relaxing on the dock, Krissy noticed a portable speaker on the table that started playing their song – when she turned around to ask Shayne where it came from, he was on bended knee reaching for her hand! The fact that he proposed at their favourite place on earth with their family nearby made it a moment they’ll never forget.

Planning the wedding
Since she was a little girl, Krissy knew she wanted a destination wedding – and Shayne agreed! Krissy had been travelling to Los Cabos with her family since she was a teenager and had always dreamed of getting married in Cabo with its beautiful gold sand beaches and majestic arches.
After doing lots of research, reading reviews and searching up hotels on social media, the couple decided that Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas was the perfect location for them. As one of the only 5-star all inclusive resorts in Cabo, it checked all their boxes.
Day details
On January 29th, 2018, Krissy and Shayne got married on the beautiful beach at Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas in front of 84 of their family and friends. From their first look – Krissy’s favourite part of the big day – to their reception, everything went perfectly. The couple both agreed that it was the best day of their lives.
Their destination wedding consultant and on-site coordinator helped make Krissy’s Pinterest-wedding dreams come to life, from the romantic Boho theme to the blush pink and navy blue colour scheme. The couple held both their ceremony and reception on the beach and for their honeymoon they stayed an extra week at the resort after all their guests left. It was the perfect ending to the perfect wedding.

Tips for future couples
"Trust the wedding planners! They know what they’re doing and will do everything they can to make the day exactly as you envisioned it. Also, spend the extra money on a great photographer – even if that means flying them down, these pictures are with you for life and you won’t regret it!"
