How it all started

Marline, a teacher, and Mina, a project coordinator, are both from Mississauga and ran in similar circles but somehow their paths never crossed. Ultimately, love brought them together when their close friends got married and paired Marline and Mina to walk down the aisle together at the ceremony. Sparks flew instantly; Mina asked Marline out for dinner and drinks and their own love story blossomed.

Marline first thought about marrying Mina while she was vacationing with a friend in Cancun. There was a couple getting married on the beach and their heartfelt ceremony made her realize how much she missed Mina and that she wanted him by her side every day, and every vacation, to come.

During a vacation in Paris, France, Mina took Marline to see the Eiffel Tower. While gazing up at this impressive landmark, Mina kneeled to tie his shoe. Marline jokingly warned him to be careful because getting down on one knee in such a romantic setting could give a girl the wrong idea. Mina momentarily agreed with her before surprising his bride-to-be with a glistening engagement ring!

Planning the wedding

Both Marline and Mina knew with complete certainty that a destination wedding was the right choice. They wanted to host a celebration that reflected their unique style and to provide their guests with an unparalleled experience that simply wouldn’t fit in a single day.

The happy couple decided that Grand Oasis Cancun was the perfect setting for their tropical nuptials. The pair fell head over heels for this resort on a previous vacation and decided that it was the ideal spot to tie the knot. Plus, they knew that their guests would enjoy the stylish accommodation options, abundance of activities and breathtaking beachfront location.

Marline and Mina planned an array of exciting activities for their friends and family to enjoy during their destination wedding week. They wanted their guests to experience all that this tropical oasis has to offer, so they organized a picturesque catamaran cruise along Cancun’s iconic coast as well as a lively pool party for their bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Day details

On Monday, July 29th, 2019, Marline and Mina exchanged their vows during a gorgeous ceremony at Our Lady of Guadalupe chapel at Panama Jack Cancun. This elegant venue, which is the only oceanfront Catholic chapel in Cancun, offered a tranquil atmosphere and exceptional ocean views.

Afterwards, the wedding festivities continued at Grand Oasis Cancun. The newlyweds hosted a fabulous outdoor terrace reception decorated with luscious floral arrangements in tropical hues of orange, yellow and pink, with a stunning sweetheart table and white round tables surrounding a spacious dancefloor. Marline and Mina spent the rest of the evening basking in newlywed bliss beneath twinkling fairy lights and dancing the night away with their nearest and dearest.

Mina’s favourite moment was their beautiful and heartfelt ceremony while Marline loved the dazzling fireworks display.
