Vacation-inspired ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day at home
We would all love to be celebrating Valentine’s Day on a tropical beach or by a sparkling pool right now – and while we can’t jet off on vacation quite yet, brighter days are ahead. In the meantime, we rounded up some of our favourite vacation-inspired ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day at home. From creating your own adventures to planning a romantic dinner, these vacation-inspired activities will transport you to the tropics.
For the couple that loves a great meal
Trying out new foods and delicious dishes is one of the best parts of travelling. So why not bring a taste of the tropics to your kitchen this Valentine’s Day? Order in from your favourite local Caribbean or Mexican restaurant to support your city’s restaurant industry or whip up a destination-inspired dish yourself. Light some candles, set the table with your fanciest plates and pretend you’re dining by the ocean instead of at home!
For the couple that’s always up for an adventure
While you might not be able to zipline over the rainforest this Valentine’s Day, you can enjoy an adventure closer to home – while following all local public health guidelines, of course. If the weather’s not too cold, you can head out for a romantic hike along a nearby nature trail or your local conservation area and pretend you’re trekking through the rainforest. It’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors and get in some exercise after being stuck inside most days. Don’t forget your mask!
For the couple that needs to relax and unwind
Vacations are all about rest and relaxation – and while a beachside massage is off the table, you can still organize a relaxing spa day at home for your sweetheart. Put together a gift box of their favourite soaps, bath and beauty products and draw a picture-perfect bubble bath. You can use your own essential oils and bath salts, light some coconut-scented candles and add some fresh lotus flowers to the water to feel like you’re truly in the tropics.
For the couple that loves being entertained
If you and your partner are the life of the party, enjoying resort entertainment is probably one of your favourite parts of a vacation. Since you can’t take in a live show at the resort theatre this weekend, you can plan a movie night at home! Netflix nights and movie marathons have been a staple of quarantine, so kick things up a notch by mixing up some tropical drinks or hosting a virtual watch party with your friends. Put on one of your favourite movies or pick a vacation-inspired flick like Pirates of the Caribbean.
For the couple that needs something to look forward to
We all need something to look forward to. After a year of missed celebrations, quarantining separately from our family and friends and working remotely, it might seem like there’s no end in sight – but there’s light at the end of the tunnel! Soon we’ll be able to return to travel safely and responsibly. If you and your special someone can’t wait to start stamping your passports again, you can get started on planning your future vacation for the end of 2021 and 2022 with peace of mind. Dream about strolling hand in hand along the beach, grabbing drinks from the swim-up bar and enjoying date nights in the tropics. Brighter days are ahead!
