Where it all started

Vickie and Daniel were friends in high school, but it wasn’t until they reconnected at a pool party years later that a romantic connection sparked between them. At the party, Daniel was accompanied by his two-year-old daughter, Rosalie, and upon seeing what an exceptional father he was Vickie agreed to go out with him. After a lovely first date planned by Daniel which included rollerblading through Parc Moussette, the pair fell head over heels – both literally and for one another.

Two years later, their happy family grew with the addition of a beautiful baby girl. Vickie and Daniel decided they wanted to get married to celebrate their love for one another and their two daughters. They made a deal that Vickie would be the one to pop the question and staying true to their deal, she planned an elaborate proposal, which took place at a close friend’s wedding, that swept Daniel off his feet.

Planning the wedding

From the start, both Vickie and Daniel had their hearts set on a destination wedding. From the simplicity of planning to the breathtaking settings and the opportunity to spend an entire week with their loved ones, it seemed like the perfect plan.

For their first vacation as a couple, they travelled to Grand Oasis Cancun. So, when they began planning their destination wedding, they were certain they wanted to return to celebrate in Cancun and loved the idea of revisiting this resort since it offered a wide selection of delicious restaurants and fun-filled activities that their family and friends would enjoy.

Vickie and Daniel decided to host their tropical nuptials off-site at Mandala Beach Club Cancun, located just a short drive away from the resort. The venue checked all of their boxes, offering a stunning beachfront ceremony location and a stylish pool area, perfect for their private reception.

Day details

On January 16th, 2019, Vickie and Daniel said “I do” beneath a trendy geometric altar during a picturesque ceremony by the sea. The couple wanted to include their daughters in their big day, so they incorporated a special sand ceremony for the family and surprised their daughters with heartfelt vows addressed to them.

Afterwards, the party moved over to the pool which was beautifully decorated with bright marquee letters and a dancefloor covering the pool where Vickie and Daniel shared their first dance to “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston. During this magical moment, the sky lit up with a spectacular firework show which was Daniel’s favourite part of the celebration. The newlyweds spend the rest of the evening celebrating their love in paradise surrounded by their family and friends.

Tips for future couples

“Start planning the wedding in advance. Give yourself some homework to do each week. Don’t plan things at the last minute, leave the last minutes for the unexpected.”
