Where it all started

Christine and Tyler’s love story started at a New Year’s Eve party in 2009 where they first met – however, it would be another five years before the pair met again and began their relationship. For their first official date five years later, Tyler took Christine to his friend’s romantic French restaurant in the countryside outside of Tottenham. From there, the rest was history.

On their three-year anniversary, Tyler told Christine he was taking her somewhere special and to wear running shoes. He took her on a walk through the hiking trails behind their house and in the middle of the forest at their special spot, he got down on one knee and popped the question. Of course, she said “yes!”

Planning the wedding

Christine and Tyler knew from the beginning that they wanted a destination wedding. Christine had been travelling to Cancun with her family since she was a teenager and it had always been her dream to have a destination wedding. The couple had also travelled together to Hyatt Ziva Cancun shortly after it opened, where they fell in love with Cancun and the resort.

They decided Hyatt Ziva Cancun was the perfect resort for their wedding – not only had they been their before and loved it, but it also provided the perfect blend of adults only and family-friendly options. Their younger friends could rest and relax in the adults only section while their friends with kids could stay in the family-oriented Ziva section.

Day details

On October 19th, 2017, Christine and Tyler exchanged their vows in front of 35 of their closest family and friends at Hyatt Ziva Cancun’s picturesque Cliff Gazebo venue. Overlooking the coast and surrounded by lush palm trees, the gazebo was elegantly decorated in flowing white fabric with the sparkling sea providing the perfect backdrop for their ceremony.

The couple held their reception at the fire pit area overlooking the water, which provided a romantic ambiance that meshed perfectly with their blush and ivory colour scheme. The reception was one of the couple’s favourite moments from their big day – from their first dance to the heartfelt speeches from their bridal party. Following the big day, the couple remained at Hyatt Ziva Cancun for their honeymoon in one of the luxurious Turquoize swim-out suites.
