Real Wedding: Ashley & Chris

Where it all started

Ashley, a LEED purchaser and Chris, a forensic video analyst first met as coworkers at a music shop. At first, the two coworkers kept it professional. Then one day, Chris asked Ashley on a sushi and movie date – and the rest was history.

Within the first year of dating, Ashley and Chris both knew they wanted to get married. Ashley’s family was even taking bets on when Chris would pop the question! The couple had an inside joke that Chris would propose via Post-It Note and one night while out for dinner, he passed her a Post-It Note that said: “Will you marry me?” Of course, she said ‘yes’ to his proposal.

Planning the wedding

Ashley had always dreamed of having a destination wedding; she wanted to feel the sand in between her toes as she walked down the aisle. The couple decided on Playa Del Carmen as their wedding destination. They had both been there before and had fallen in love with the area’s beautiful landscapes and soft golden sands. Chris had previously stayed at Riu Yucatan and loved it, so they decided it would be the ideal place for them to exchange their vows.

Day details

On April 21st, 2018, Ashley and Chris said ‘I do’ on the beach at Riu Yucatan. Chris’ favourite moment was watching his beautiful bride walk down the aisle, while Ashley loved when they exchanged their personalized vows. Following their romantic ceremony, the couple moved to a different area of the beach for their “sophisticated soiree” reception, complete with a light-up dance floor, paper lanterns and purple décor. After their wedding week, the couple moved to The Royal Playa Del Carmen for their honeymoon and an extra week of fun in the Mexican sun.
