Keep the theme and vibe in mind
First things first – make sure you’ve sorted out the basic vision for your big day. You want to make sure that your suit matches the overall aesthetic and vibe of your wedding, so you don’t show up to a laidback bohemian celebration wearing a five-piece tux! Once you and your bride or groom-to-be have narrowed down how you envision your ceremony and reception, you can get an idea of what direction you should go in for your suit, whether it’s a casual trousers and shirt combo or a more formal and snazzy tux.
Make sure you pick the right fabric
You’re going to be standing outside in a tropical climate all day, so you want to make sure you pick a fabric that’s breathable, lightweight and comfortable. Plus, you don’t want to be all sweaty for your photos! There are a number of lighter fabrics that are popular for destinations weddings including linen, cotton, bamboo, seersucker and other loosely woven materials. You can also go ultra-casual and wear trousers with just a button-up shirt.

Coordinate with your partner
We’re not saying you have to match, but it’s always a good idea to make sure your wedding outfits go together (without spoiling the surprise). It would be unfortunate if you met at the aisle only to discover that you were wearing clashing colours! Pick a designated member of your wedding party to coordinate between the two outfits to make sure they go together. If you’re both wearing a suit, you can pick the same pattern in different fits (for example, one of you wears a vest and the other a jacket).
Opt for a custom fit
You deserve to splurge on one of the most special days of your life! Treat yourself and purchase a bespoke suit that will be designed and made exactly to your measurements. It’ll fit like a glove and you’ll feel like a million bucks on your big day! Plus, you can always wear it again to other important milestones or celebrations. If your budget doesn’t account for a custom suit, you can always buy something off-the-rack, and have it tailored to ensure that it fits you even better.
