Mazatlán has been climbing the ranks of dream destinations for trips to Mexico and with golden-sand beaches, delicious cuisine and a culture all its own, it’s easy to see why! But there’s more to this stunning destination than meets the eye! We’ve rounded up some fun events happening in Mazatlán that you can discover for yourself if you’re in the mood for a spontaneous last-minute getaway! Plus, we have a range of Mazatlán all inclusive packages to choose from, so you can find the perfect place to stay and experience why this destination has a special place in our hearts!

Foodies, we’ve got it all for you

If you’re the type of traveller that loves to eat their way through the destinations they visit, then Mazatlán should definitely be on your list of places to go! More than 30% of food consumed in Mexico is sourced from Mazatlán, so you know it’s got the goods. Every Wednesday morning from November to April, you can browse handmade goodies and food items at the Sabalo Country Craft, Food and Bake Sale or shop locally grown, farm direct produce, dairy, meats, flowers, you name it, at the Mazatlán Organic Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. El Cid Marina Beach is a great home base to go ham at these local food markets – plus its three for the price of one with complete access to nearby El Cid resorts!

Move over Paris, it’s Mazatlán’s time to shine

There’s more than one way to explore a destination and one our faves is by taking in the local culture first hand. On the first Friday of every month from now until April, you can join in on the Mazatlán Art Walk. Spanning 17 years, this self-guided tour through Downtown Mazatlán and its Historic Centre takes you through local galleries where artists exhibit, promote and sell their work. Focusing more on fine art, you can expect to see paintings, sculptures, photography, ceramics and more telling Mazatlán’s dynamic tales, not to mention the beauty of the streets themselves! North of the downtown core, near the iconic Mazatlán sign is the stylish Playa Mazatlán Beach Hotel, featuring one of the most gorgeous zero-entry pools and a pirate-themed splash pool for kids!

Green bathers encouraged

St. Patrick’s Day gets a tropical twist in Pacific Mexico! It might surprise you to find out that there are plenty of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations happening in destination, both at Mazatlán all inclusive resorts and at the city’s bars and beaches! Plenty of Canadians and Americans live in Mazatlán year-round so you’ll feel right at home. This year, the bash will be held at Playa La Escopama where you can raise a glass with locals, expats and other tourists. We can’t guarantee there’ll be Guinness but why not try a crisp Pacifico, brewed in Mazatlán since 1900! After a day of beach fun, you can retire in style at Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay, just a short drive away.

Magical moments in magic towns

Trust us, magical is the perfect way to describe these enchanting pueblos, historic towns outside of Mazatlán that charm us with every visit. Take Cosalá, once a prosperous mining town that now attracts troves of travellers with its colourful colonial architecture and stunning views at the foot of the Sierra Madre Mountains, surrounded by lush landscapes. Schedule your getaway in early March and you can join in on the celebrations of its Founding Day. If you’re looking for something more traditional, El Rosario, or The Rosary, hosts religious ceremonies in early April that have been going for over 100 years! El Cid Granada is the perfect home base for exploring the surrounding pueblos, with a magic all its own like family-friendly amenities, Smile Resorts™ perks and more!

You’re invited to Mazatlán’s biggest party

OK, OK, we know it’s only a few days away BUT the Mazatlán Carnival, said to be the third largest carnival in the world (we’ll take their word for it), is essentially Mexico’s Mardi Gras! Taking place between February 16th and February 21st, each day is filled with lively events from street parties to king and queen coronations, firework shows and parades. And hey, if you’re already in destination it makes a great addition to your itinerary! Joining the celebrations is super easy when you stay at a number of different Mazatlán all inclusive resorts like Riu Emerald Bay, great for groups looking to keep the fun going with an on-site water park, exclusive RIU-topia perks and spacious accommodations to fit your whole crew!

There’s no time like the present to experience the best of paradise with a last-minute getaway to Mazatlán! You’ll feel right at home with everything you need for a great getaway at your fingertips at all inclusive resorts built for every traveller. It’s never a dull moment in Mazatlán with Sunwing!
