Feel like a ten on your big day with THE TEN SPOT®
We know your wedding look is an essential piece to feeling confident on your big day, and with your wedding day already full of finishing touches, stressing about your glam in the tropical heat shouldn’t be one of them. Luckily, Toronto-born beauty bar THE TEN SPOT® agrees and is here to help.
Launched by CEO Kristen Gale in 2006, THE TEN SPOT® is a vibrant and social beauty bar founded on the principles of esthetics excellence, the highest quality products and an unwavering dedication to clinically clean practices adhering to the most stringent hygiene standards and practices, including proper disinfecting of all tools and equipment. Their services empower guests to radiate their best selves with big, bold, energy (which is amplified by the beauty bar’s orange branding and décor) and offer immediate and effective results, guaranteed to ensure all clients are looking (and feeling) like a ten® for their weddings in the tropics!
We spoke with Vice President of Operations, Leslie Ferranti-Elvidge, who offered some insight into the services available for brides, grooms and more, plus important tips and tricks so you can maximize your beauty bar experience with little to no maintenance in destination.
Waxing
Enjoy your time in the tropics without worrying about the unsavoury effects of shaving. From small services for the lip or brow to their signature brazilly®, flawless skin is just a few wax strips away!
Tips:
- Let your hair grow out for at least a couple weeks beforehand – strands should be the length of an eyelash or a grain of rice to be primed for the perfect wax.
- Depending on the strength of your skincare, skip the retinol or harsh exfoliants two to four weeks before any facial waxing.
- Exfoliating regularly helps to lift the hair and your wax be more precise.
- Wear loose clothing that protects the waxed area(s) from direct sunlight for 48 hours.
If you are a first-time waxer, book an appointment a few months prior to the big day so you can see how your skin will react. Otherwise, three to five days prior to your departure will have your skin paradise ready. For more permanent results, consult with your beauty bar expert about the benefits of laser hair removal which requires multiple sessions.
Nails
Whether you’re interested in strengthening your natural nails, getting creative with your “something blue” or complementing your wedding’s neutral colour palette, a fresh set of nails can really pull your ensemble together and make your new future wedding ring look that much better.
Tips:
- Consider insta-drying shellac that dazzles twice as long as regular polish.
- Alternatively, their BIAB® gel overlay service, a non-toxic alternative to dips and acrylics is more durable than other overlays and promotes better nail health.
- For a chic, elegant style, ask your beauty bar expert for an almond shape – their most popular style for weddings!
Your nails are good to go the second you leave the beauty bar, so book your manicure and pedicure appointments as close to the big day as possible to avoid any grow out showing during your wedding photos.
Tinting and Lamination
Achieve thicker, fuller brows shaped perfectly for your face with a brow tint and lamination, or brighten your windows to the soul with a lash lift and tint for that “I woke up like this” moment each day.
Tips:
Tint and lamination
- Avoid wetting your brows for 24 hours post-service.
- No strong sunlight and swimming for a week.
Eyelash lift
- Go barefaced for 24 hours after your appointment.
- Hot tip: pair with a lash growth serum for next-level results!
Both services last up to six to eight weeks, but to ensure your tints, lifts and laminations look fresh and new, we recommend booking your appointment approximately two weeks prior to the wedding.
Facials
Facials rejuvenate and hydrate the skin, unclog pores, boost blood circulation and reduce common blemishes like dark spots and pigmentation – everything you need for that radiant wedding day glow.
Tips:
- Come hydrated and with fresh, clean skin.
- Avoid exfoliating for at least a week before your appointment.
- Don’t pluck and/or shave facial hair as this service can further irritate the skin.
Peels and dermaplaning should be done well in advance of your wedding if you want to address any longer-term concerns. For fresh, glowing skin, opt for something that hydrates and nourishes the skin a few days before you depart for maximum results!
How can you maintain longer-lasting results in destination?
- SPF is essential! Always use a broad-spectrum SPF to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.
- Use hydrating sheet masks to restore moisture and give your skin a radiant glow.
- Protect your hair from drying out by using a leave-in conditioner.
- Carry a hydrating facial mist to spritz throughout the day, keep you cool and your skin hydrated.
- After a day in the sun, apply aloe vera gel to soothe and heal any sunburns or irritated skin.
