Content creator Antho Tran says you never forget your first all inclusive

Packing for this trip, what are some of the essentials you knew you needed?

My girlfriend actually packed our luggage this time but I would say, to start, a lot of swimsuits, a handful of shirts and a lot of sunscreen – SPF 60 is the way to go for me!

You’re all packed and ready to go. So, how was travelling with Sunwing? We heard you got the Elite Plus experience(!), what was that like?

We had a fantastic experience! We got priority check-in and on our way to Cancun, were able to board the plane before everyone else and had more leg room courtesy of our Elite Plus seats. As soon as we got off the plane, someone was there to take care of us every step of the way as airport transfers to and from the hotel are included on all inclusive Sunwing Vacations packages!

Before this getaway, what would you say was your preferred vacation style? Would you rather relax by the pool or keep busy?

I really enjoy relaxing but also adventuring off the resort a few times – the best of both worlds! This getaway we did exactly that and we explored the shops, boutiques and street food at the Mercado 28 flea market near Cancun!

As this was your first time staying at an all inclusive resort, we’d love to know – what were your favourite activities on site?

With so much to do on-site at Planet Hollywood Adult Scene Cancun, it’s hard to choose just one… but some our favourites have to be the lazy river and the pool with its Blue Lagoon – Lazy River Grotto Bar (make sure to try out their mocktails!). Bonus tip: if travellers love being in the water as much as we do, I would definitely suggest bringing at least three swimsuits, so they have enough time to dry between dips. Also, while it wasn’t an activity, another feature of the resort we loved was the butler service! Our butler was very kind, attentive and answered all of our questions throughout our stay.

Staying at this resort also gives you access to the wider, family-friendly Planet Hollywood Cancun next door. Did you visit the neighbouring resort? What were some benefits of being able to access two properties for the price of one?

We did check it out! It’s great and super convenient to be able to explore the different options when it comes to amenities (helloooo lazy river!) and restaurants, which is what we did throughout our stay.

As a guest, you had access to Planet Hollywood Cancun’s 11 restaurants and bars. Were you surprised by the variety of cuisines and what was your favourite dish? Which restaurant would you recommend for a romantic date night?

We tried almost every restaurant but I was most surprised to see the variety of different dishes that were offered at the buffet! My favourite restaurant was Gusto Italian Trattoria, which would also be my pick for a romantic date night. Make sure to pack a nice outfit since it has more of a formal dress code – no suits or ballgowns but maybe a nice linen shirt or a summer dress!

Speaking of romance, we heard it was your partner’s birthday while you were in destination! How did the resort help you plan a special birthday?

It was incredible and amazingly pretty. There was a Happy Birthday banner on our door and the room was decorated with balloons. They also offered sparkling wine and strawberries dipped in chocolate. Everything was perfect, and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. A big thank you to Planet Hollywood for these special inclusions!

You also got the chance to enjoy a NexusTours excursion. What were you able to see and do during your time in Mexico?

We really liked the ATV Xtreme Snorkel excursion from NexusTours (a Sunwing partner in destination) in Playa Mujeres! We explored, snorkelled and swam through cenotes and rode an ATV. I really enjoyed the excursion but I think I prefer doing each activity on its own to be able to discover everything better, one excursion that focuses on one activity so you can really immerse yourself in it. That’s just our preference! Since snorkelling was our favourite part of the excursion, we booked another tour, this time out in the ocean!

Would you recommend this resort to a friend?

Yes! There was so much to do at the property, the staff were really nice and there was always some room to lounge and swim at the pool. The beach was incredible too, without any seaweed.

Overall, how did your first all inclusive resort experience exceed your expectations? What surprised you?

Absolutely! The room was amazing (shout out again to the Planet Hollywood crew!) and I was astounded by its size. I also really enjoyed the wide array of activities – there was never a boring moment during our stay!
