Every bride and groom deserve to look their absolute best on their wedding day, especially when they’re hosting it in paradise. Leah Spicer of Stunning & Co. was kind enough to extend her expert knowledge on what couples should know when planning their wedding day makeup! With years of making soon-to-be wedded customers feel radiant, Leah’s starting us off with her insights on how to ensure your skin is at its healthiest so you can put your best face forward in the tropics – literally!

Prep starts months before the “I do”

The biggest piece of advice that Leah can offer brides and grooms to achieve the look they’ve envisioned might be a surprise to some (though we hope not!). It all comes down to your skin! Implementing a great skin care routine months in advance and booking regular facials, especially before your wedding, will guarantee you have the best palette on this special day. While there are so many skincare products on the market, start where you’re most comfortable. Core products like a cleanser, retinol, vitamin C serum and moisturizer will make a huge difference. Skincare should be unique to your skin type and you can find everything you need within your budget!

Products to bring to the tropics

From glam to editorial and even au naturel, there are plenty of beauty styles you can choose from for your big day but achieving that picture-perfect look comes down to the right products. Leah recommends reaching out to artists who are knowledgeable about products used in film and special effects, like the right waterproofing spray, transfer proof foundation and lip stain that are appropriate for your skin type. Plus, there are plenty of primers on the market for all areas of the face, from lips to eyeshadows and all-around skin! Leah’s number one product recommendation for every couple in the tropics? Sunscreen that can be worn under your makeup. Supergoop is a fantastic product – it won’t make you look pale in pictures and has SPF 40 protection!

Getting the look you want in paradise

While bringing your own trusted MUA with you is often preferred, it’s not in every couple’s wedding budget. Meeting a brand-new MUA can seem a little daunting, but Leah has some suggestions on how you can build this relationship to be more confident day of. As in any relationship (little tip for future couples), communication is key! Just like at home, you should always be in constant communication with your bridal team for weeks even months before your wedding. After scoping out the artist you’d like to guide you through your glam session, supply them with plenty of inspiration pics and examples of the products you’ve been using so they can have a complete picture of what you need for your dream wedding day aesthetic.
