5 extraordinary resort kids clubs
Taking the kids on vacation? That means special planning to accommodate your little ones’ favourite activities. From being a zookeeper for the day to meeting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the kids clubs at these resorts offer so much fun your children won’t want to leave—leaving you with some time to finish that book on your sun lounger. Check out our list of 5 resorts your kids will love.
Get Slimed or make your own green goo at Nickelodeon Hotels and Resorts Punta Cana kids club where young guests can get up close and personal with their favourite Nickelodeon characters including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer. Featuring a mega-ball pit and two-storey slide, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle slime-making classes are always an exciting part of the program. When they’re not at the kids club, the whole family can enjoy the Nickelodeon experience: from having a character breakfast with Dora the Explorer and meeting the Splash mob of characters at Aqua Nick water park to grabbing a selfie at the aptly-named Character Central.
Tuesdays are Zoo Days at Memories Holguin Beach Resort in Holguin, Cuba, where younger guests are taken by carriage ride to the petting zoo as part of the daily kids club program on Tuesdays. Other highlights include the talent show on Friday, water games and meet-and-greets with favourite characters, Toopy and Binoo. While the kids are being entertained, parents can look forward to sipping on their favourite tropical cocktails on the beach, or trying out some exciting water sports such as windsurfing, kayaking and snorkelling.
Boasting its own pool and waterslide, the Mini and Teen Club at Family Club section at Grand Riviera Princess All Suites Spa and Resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, has everything needed for endless splash-worthy fun. Its daily program of activities runs right up until the evening so parents can take advantage of the many à la carte dining restaurants onsite; options include Italian classics, sumptuous seafood dishes, authentic Mexican dishes and more.
At Jewel Runaway Bay Beach and Golf Resort in Jamaica the kids club has its own ranch, Red Ruby Ranch, where little ones can pretend they’re in the Wild West with activities that range from horse grooming lessons and hay rides to bonfires and laser tag. While the kids play, parents can work on their swing at the Championship golf course (green fees are complimentary) or enjoy a game of tennis. Afterwards the whole family can cool off at the on-site water park, the largest in Montego Bay.
While the ultimate surf machine, ‘FlowRider’, at Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa isn’t exclusive to the resort’s kids club, we couldn’t resist adding in this attraction to our list. When the family has dried off, the kids club offers numerous activities such as meets with favourite characters like Max & Ruby™, while the teen hangout club includes all the latest video games, flat screen TVs, snooker tables and more. Teens can also charge their phones and call their friends for free with the Royalton app and access to free Wi-Fi. Parents can take advantage of their own downtime, relaxing as they float down the resort’s lazy river or savouring a cocktail at one of the eight bars.
