Ixtapa is located 200 km north of Acapulco, and a 5-minute drive from the fishing
village of Zihuatanejo. Situated 15 minutes from the endless beaches of Troncones,
and about 30 minutes from the fabulous beaches and wildlife preserve lagoons of
Barra de Potosi. All are accessible by car, taxi or bus service.
In Ixtapa, hotels line up along the beautiful, wide, golden sand beach. For the

Zihuatanejo is less than 10km. from Ixtapa and can be visited by a quick bus ride
or cab drive. For a true sense of Mexican culture meander through the cobblestone
streets of this charming old fishing village and enjoy shopping at authentic Mexican
Language spoken in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Spanish. English widely spoken in most areas. Currency and Exchange used in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo The Mexican Peso is the local currency. Most hotels
have a money exchange office on site. US dollars can be exchanged in banks only.
Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted credit cards. ATM's are not easy
to find and the Cirrus system is not compatible everywhere.

Some hotels in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo provide safety deposit boxes free of charge while
others may require a nominal fee. You will be required to pay a penalty fee if you
lose the key.
