DEPARTMENT: E-Commerce
REPORTS TO: E-Commerce Manager
We are looking for a talented Web Designer to join one of Canada's leading travel groups. As a Web Designer your challenges will include creating, developing and maintaining the digital brand experience to end-consumers and resellers alike, across multiple digital channels. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter capable of handling and prioritizing multiple simultaneous tasks, be adaptable to changing priorities and thrive in a high-paced environment.
Position Responsibilities:
- Design mock-ups (website layout/GUI) based on wireframes with the consideration of user experience best practices
- Convert design mock-ups into cross-browser, cross-platform and device compliant code
- Ability to remain current with emerging trends, technologies and applications as related to digital strategies
- Demonstrates creative, technical and analytical skills
- Proactively recommend concepts and enhancements in order to continuously improve the electronic brand experience
- Ability to follow direction, prioritize projects and process artistic and technical feedback in order to create unique design solutions while meeting strict deadlines
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team

| Minimum Requirements |
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in website design
- Completion of a college program in web design, graphic design or a relevant program
- Possess a diverse technical and design background and can apply established design principles to come up with appropriate designs
- Practical experience writing HTML, XHTML, CSS, DHTML, ActionScript, JavaScript and JQuery
- Working experience with the following languages: ASP, ASP.Net
- Knowledge of web design tools: Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator
- Browser testing knowledge (IE7/8/9, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari)
- Familiarity with SEO techniques
- Familiarity with social media and viral marketing concepts
- Familiarity with website analytics programs/tools
- Familiarity with A/B testing methods
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Beneficial, but not required:
- Bilingual French knowledge a plus
- Experience in mobile app development (iPhone and/or Android)
- Experience in WCMS platform customization
- HTML5 and CSS3 experience desired, but is not required
Applicant should have an online portfolio, demonstrating experience successfully designing and creating numerous projects including various websites, logo creation, banners, Flash/jQuery animation, etc.
