The transportation hub of western Newfoundland, Deer Lake is a small town of some 5,000 located 640 kms from St. John’s. The largest town in the area is friendly Corner Brook where there is a good range of modest accommodation. But the biggest draw in the region is stunning Gros Morne National Park, a vast treasure featuring scenery from the craggy to serene. Tour Gros Morne by car, bike, or on foot; there’s a surprising array of dining and accommodation options within the park, notably cabins and chalets.
